Function goes Fashion: ISPO trends AW 19/20 in Munich, February 2019
Through the eyes of a fashion designer, I missed new dynamic lines at ISPO show in February 2019. This season, the trend of the fair is the change of a functional look to a fashionable lifestyle product, but fully equipped.
This is well demonstrated by JW365, the new capsule collection of Jack Wolfskin, which is an everyday collection for men: clean, stylish and urban.
At this ISPO the increasing efforts of many brands to produce in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way are encouraging. And of course there are quite impressive technical developments in material, function and in wearable technologies.
My personal highlights:
- Helly Hansen: beautiful new fabric mixes and innovative style ideas
- EA7 by Armani: high-end design perfect presented in galactic athmosphere
- Eclat Textile: their stunning jacquards, whose organic motifs looked like printed but were actually knitted, knocked me over.

My 6 selected ISPO trends AW 19/20:
1. Modern camouflage:
In additional to the usual graphic print motifs, made up of geometric lines and triangles, mainly organic, cloudy allover prints can be seen. Almost like a new kind of camouflage, they are sometimes very pale and subtle, sometimes in strong colours.
2. Cool Mix:
Helly Hansen has beautifully combined technical fabrics with rustic ones such as flannel check or sherpa fleece to create a technical, urban look. EA7’s Animal structures combined with white and silver are almost futuristic.
